Day 473: Happy Dance

Happy September!!!!  I’ve been waiting for this month for…well, months.  J will be home for a visit at the end of the month, barring any last-minute decision changes the Navy so loves to toss out there, so we’re frantically trying to deep-clean the house and get ready.  It’s amazing how much mess two toddlers and two adults can make, especially when those two adults really don’t care if the house is messy. 🙂

Our trip to the Cape was amazing and far too short.  My cousin Harmony made a gorgeous bride, and the wedding was a blast.  I rented a dress from Rent the Runway, and I was a little nervous since it was my first rental.  My friend Alison introduced me to the site when she was down a few months ago.  Basically you sign up for a free account, and you’re able to rent designer dresses for four or eight days for a fraction of the retail cost.  It was totally worth it.

I got a Badgley Mischka dress that retails for $400 for a total of $67, which was the rental, shipping both ways and a back-up dress in case the first one didn’t fit, which was great because even though the website said the dress was true to size, it actually was a little big, so I ended up wearing the smaller back-up dress.

The dresses also came with a cute little packet of lint remover pads, deodorant remover pads and those sticky pads that hold strapless dresses up, a garment bag and a postage-paid return envelope.  When I had to return the dresses, all I had to do was wrap them back up in the plastic, pop them in the envelope and drop them off at the post office.  The packet, garment bag and hangers were mine to keep.

I’m definitely going to do this for every big event from here on out.  I already have my dress picked out for next year’s Navy Ball.  😀  It’s also Badgley Mischka.

And just for kicks, here’s how the dress looked on me (far left) and all my lovely ladies!
