Today J, Little J and I spent some time planting a ton of seeds we bought yesterday. We bought several kinds of flowers, a few kinds of vegetables, cantaloupe and oregano. Random, I know. I’m not known for a particularly strong green thumb, so we’re just kind of seeing how it goes and hoping for the best. We also repotted my daffodils in hopes that more space and a good trim will help them return to their former thriving selves (Jeremy put them in the bathroom – no sunlight in there.).
We also picked up a few plant books – one on mini-farming (Eep!) and one on container gardening. Jeremy went back today to get a hummingbird feeder and some fertilizer, so our plants will grow big and strong (and tasty in the case of the edibles). I’m endlessly excited about the hummingbird feeder. My brother had one on his window a long time ago, and it was so much fun to watch them come and go.
I also now have a pretty, pretty hanging basket of fuchsia hybrid flowers hanging from the back porch. They are SO gorgeous. Bright pink and deep purple flowers, and they’re supposed to bloom in both spring and fall. Plus, they attract hummingbirds! Double-plus!!
I’m really excited about our plant adventures ’cause it’s the start to making our little place a home. Rachel has a new e-course available at Red Velvet called Style Your Space that I’m debating taking. Everyone who I’ve seen that’s signed up is really excited about it, and it’ll give me something else to look forward to when J deploys. Something which is totally necessary.
